Lonny Bohonos
Todays birthday boy.
Undrafted, signed by the Vancouver Canucks, turning pro for the 94/95 season.
Sharp-shooting right-winger Lonny Bohonos showed flashes of ability in the NHL but was unable to obtain consistent ice time. He possessed a natural touch around the net but had difficulty getting open or pouncing on rebounds when faced with the NHL's smothering defenses. However, he was considered a very one-dimensional player and his NHL potential was questioned as a result. These criticisms dogged him throughout his career - while Bohonos had unquestionable skill and natural hockey sense as well as an excellent touch around the net, his defensive game and intangibles were considered below-par. Bohonos was also ripped by analysts and scouts as being a "lazy" player.
