This Day in NHL History Sept 16

There were a few things that occurred today in NHL history but I have no autographs of any of those events. First one for this month happens at t he half way point. Hopefully the rest of the month fares better.

I was reading on one of the FB groups I belong to on how their teams pre-season games are not televised. I guess I have it lucky. Rogers Cable in my area is showing live broadcasts of the Maple leafs Rookie Tournament against the Senators, Penguins and Blackhawks. And just in time for the season, comes this announcement (they're using Mark Messier as their spokesman for this package)

  • With NHL Centre Ice on Rogers you get up to 40 key regular season games per week, including a number of games in high definition.
  • See the best match-ups, including games from VERSUS, NBC and U.S. Regional Sports Networks.
The company said Wednesday it would offer free live streaming of games on its NHL GameCentre Live to its own wireless and broadband Internet customers until the end of the year.

Streaming games will count against users' monthly data caps, Rogers Media President Keith Pelley said during a press conference in Toronto.
Customers of other cellular and Internet providers will be able to subscribe to the package for $199.99 for the season; a discount to $179.99 will be available until Oct. 13.
A French-only package including 60 Montreal Canadiens games and 54 Ottawa Senator games will be available for $59.99.
Half-season passes that begin in January will be $129.99 for both Rogers and non-Rogers subscribers.
Guess I my tune in for a few games. Since Rogers acquired the NHL contract, they are going full bore at it. Gotta love it.
Now some show and tell.

95/96 Maggers Wayne Gretzky magnet. One of the few items I have of Wayne in the Blues uni.
